First term achievements

  • Worked with the Escuela Mill Creek community to get action from the provincial government on a promised replacement school and to ensure purpose-build childcare space would be included in the design

  • Led efforts to get increased federal support for refugee students to ensure they are better supported in transitioning to school in Canada

  • Pressured our provincial partners to ensure that the new sexual health curriculum will be age-appropriate, grounded in evidence, consistent across the province, and clear for parents and teachers to understand so that youth are equipped to make better decisions for their health and wellbeing

  • Supported initiatives to increase supports for the most high-needs special needs students

  • Gifted every Edmonton Public school with the Treaty 6 and Metis flags

  • Supported ESPB in increasing graduation rates from 68% to 80%

  • Ensured that district surpluses benefitted students through initiatives such as the Equity Fund, technology upgrades for schools, and student mental health initiatives

  • Worked with students to support the success of the groundbreaking Student Senate model, offering a model for student engagement and youth participation in education
